Next to the chaotic traffic, the thing that most annoys commuters in metropolitan Manila is rude, abusive taxi drivers. Now thanks to a free web app, commuters can report these arrogant cabbies to the traffic authorities.
Created by a couple of Filipino web developers, Taxikick.com allows commuters to file complaints on their mobile phones or tablets against cab drivers who refuse passengers, overcharge or are just plain rude.
The app was introduced ahead of the Christmas holidays and has been greeted with enthusiasm by the public, reports Interaksyon.com, the online news portal of TV5, one of the three major private networks in the country.
The group behind the project has pointed out that it is not up to them to enforce sanctions on erring taxi drivers adds Interaksyon.com, which itself developed an online traffic navigator for the city in cooperation with a local agency.
Taxikick.com is still in its experimental stage and its creators will have to discuss with regulatory bodies how to optimize the use of the tool.
Worth importing to New York???
