Alejandra Matus is a Chilean investigative journalist and associate professor at the Diego Portales University’s School of Communications in Santiago. She is the author of "The Black Book of Chilean Justice," which was banned under the provisions of the Chilean National Security Law in 1999. To escape arrest, she sought political asylum in the United States. Her battle in favor of freedom of expression contributed to the reform of that law and she returned to her country in 2001.
